Born in Mexico City, Emma Gonzales Wilkinson has lived in the United States since the early 1970's.  She and her husband, Steve, a native New Englander, have two children.

Emma has taught Spanish and English as a Second Language at various fluency levels in a variety of educational settings.  She has been teaching conversational Spanish in the Foreign Language After-School Enrichment Program in the Northborough/Southborough School System for several years.

Emma has extensive experience as a professional interpreter and translator for commercial business, health care providers, and public safety entities.

As an ESL teacher, she has also developed custom curricula for corporations and their employees.

Over the years, her program offerings have expanded in response to grouping popularity, requests from clients, feedback from colleagues, and people's need to learn another language in our diverse, global environment.  Mrs. Wilkinson added Japanese, German, Greek, Chinese, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian, and extended the range of ages to include toddlers through adults.

“I loved working with you... and that you were open to questions. I also loved that you work on pronunciation -- that is something I can’t get in a classroom.”

Our classes follow a functional-communications approach, with an emphasis on discussion of everyday activities. This teaching method facilitates practical usage and encourages the habit of thinking in your new language from the beginning. The meaning of words is conveyed through pictures, drawings, and real objects, as well as hands-on activities that involve the five senses in the learning process.
